Wig Care Guide
A simple routine for washing, drying, detangling and storing your MAMAHZXTENSIONS wig. Always check your unit’s product description first: our range includes different hair types, including human-hair blends, Futura fibre and human hair. Care and heat instructions are not interchangeable.
1. Detangle gently
- Remove your wig and support the cap without pulling on the lace.
- Separate the hair into small sections. Use your fingers first, then a wide-tooth comb where suitable, working from the ends upwards.
- Do not force knots or brush roughly through the waves. Use a small amount of detangler labelled suitable for your wig’s material if needed.
2. Wash when needed
- Wash when there is product build-up or the unit needs refreshing, rather than after every wear. Detangle first.
- Use cool to lukewarm water and a small amount of shampoo specifically suitable for the fibre or hair type shown on the product page.
- Gently smooth the cleanser through in the direction of the hair. Do not rub, twist or scrub the lace.
- Rinse thoroughly. If using conditioner, follow its instructions and keep it away from the lace knots and cap attachments.
3. Dry without rubbing
- Gently press out excess water with a towel. Do not wring or rub.
- Let the wig air-dry on a suitable ventilated wig stand, away from radiators and direct heat. Avoid stretching wet lace.
- Let it dry fully before storing or using heated styling tools. Avoid tugging or vigorous brushing while wet.
4. Refresh the waves
- Once dry, separate and arrange waves gently with your fingers.
- Avoid repeated brushing if you want to keep wave definition. Washing or restyling may change the finish; do not assume the original style will return automatically.
5. Use heat only when confirmed suitable
- Check the specific product description before using a straightener, curling tool or heated dryer. If heat suitability or a safe setting is unclear, ask us before styling.
- For a heat-friendly unit, follow that unit’s stated limit and start at the lowest effective setting. A temperature listed for another wig is not a safe limit for yours.
- Use a heat protectant compatible with the hair or fibre and test a small concealed section first. Work on fully dry hair, keep tools away from lace and cap fittings, and minimise repeated passes.
- Stop immediately if the fibres become sticky, distort or give off an unusual smell. Heat-friendly does not mean damage-proof.
6. Choose compatible products
- Match shampoo, conditioner, detangler and styling products to the material on your product page. Products intended for human hair are not automatically suitable for synthetic fibres or blends.
- Start with a small amount. Heavy oils, creams and repeated layers of spray can leave build-up and weigh down waves.
- Do not bleach, dye, perm or chemically treat a blend or synthetic unit. Ask us before any chemical treatment if you are unsure of the material.
7. Store carefully
- Put away only when completely dry and gently detangled.
- Keep on a suitable wig stand or loosely arranged in a clean storage bag, with the lace protected and the hair free from compression.
- Store somewhere cool and dry, away from sunlight and direct heat. Remove before sleeping to reduce friction and tangling.
Quick troubleshooting
-
Tangling at the nape: separate small sections from the ends upwards, using a compatible detangler if needed. Reduce friction from collars and avoid pulling.
-
Dull, sticky or heavy hair: pause styling products and gently wash out build-up with a compatible cleanser. Rinse thoroughly.
-
Frizz or less-defined waves: finger-arrange the hair and use less product. Do not increase the heat to force the style back.
-
Stubborn matting, damaged lace or heat-damaged fibres: stop pulling or heating. Contact us with your order details and clear photos before attempting further treatment.
